Duterte’s refusal to renew electronic bingo licenses led to the share price of Leisure & Resorts World Corp – the country’s largest operator in the gaming sector – tumbling by more than 20%. Having railed against online gambling and electronic bingo pretty much every day since becoming President of the Philippines on 1st July, Rodrigo Duterte no longer seems quite so upset about cyber wagering. Evidence of such appeared in a recent Reuters report. Playtech boosts UK bingo presence

Online gambling technology provider Playtech has made yet another acquisition via a £50m deal for rival software outfit Eyecon. On Tuesday, Playtech announced it had paid £25m upfront for Eyecon, which boasts over 70 games in its portfolio, including the popular Fluffy Favourites slots title. An additional consideration of up to £25m will be payable based on Eyecon’s earnings hitting certain benchmarks by June 2019.
