Over 12,000 delegates from across the online gaming industry are expected to attend and a packed calendar of events will see some of the industry’s top names and brands participating as exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, judges and mentors.

Read on to learn more about SiGMA, why it has become a mainstay in the iGaming industry and what it can mean for you, the player.

What is SiGMA?

SiGMA stands for Summit of iGaming in Malta. It started back in 2014 and has grown, year-on-year, as more brands get involved and more delegates attend. Exhibitors include familiar casino brands like Betsson, bgo and 888 casino. Representatives of payment platforms will also be present and this year, a number of Bitcoin platforms are making an appearance.

The huge exhibition hall, the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, Malta, has plenty of room so it’s not just casino brands and game developers. All kinds of associated services will be represented, ranging from casino affiliates and human resources services providers to financial services, insurance and security services.

Any business with even the smallest connection to the iGaming industry is keenly interested in what happens at SiGMA. This expo is where new collaborations are forged, new products are announced and where some of the most best minds in the industry come together.

SiGMA events and opportunities

There’s so much happening at SiGMA all the time! Over four days, delegates can meet and greet brands and service providers on the exhibition floor, and attend talks and workshop on topics like regulation, compliance, careers and payments.

A number of hands-on events will also be taking place. Developers can participate in the Hackathon, which challenges delegates to create an application over the course of SiGMA. The theme remains a secret until the beginning of the event and developers have three days to come up with an original idea and see it through to completion. This is a new event at SiGMA but it is sure to be an exciting addition, even in the years to come!

SiGMA Pitch is where the people with the good ideas meet the people with money. This Dragon’s Den-style event brings iGaming startups in front of investors in the hopes of winning a ton of resources to bring the idea to life. This year, 100 startups are vying for the chance to make their pitch. Only ten will be invited to attend on the 30th November, when investors will choose which business gets the boost. It’s a good opportunity to see what the next big thing in iGaming is going to look like.

Finally, the Malta iGaming Awards also have a spot on the SiGMA agenda. All proceeds of this event go to charity and a number of high-profile guests have been invited to watch brands take home awards such as Best Casino, Best Careers Program and Best Casino Affiliate, among many others. This is a chance for industry heavyweights to prove their mettle and take home a title for their brands.

SiGMA in Malta

For most people, the mention of Malta brings to mind sunshine, beaches and yellow limestone buildings. While all these are indeed representative of Malta, it also has a thriving iGaming community.

A great number of casinos, casino software providers and affiliates are headquartered on the beautiful island, in part thanks to the attractiveness of the lifestyle but also because of Malta’s strong regulatory position within the industry. The Malta Gaming Authority issues highly sought after operating licenses that allow holders to cater to players throughout Europe.

As a result, the island has become a hub of innovation and creativity, with many iGaming-related companies coexisting in close quarters. This makes Malta the perfect place to host an event like SiGMA, where movers and shakers can get together and get the ball rolling on the future of the industry.
