Genting Group has been granted approval for a $4 billion casino project in Clark County, Nevada (that's the area's imposing courthouse pictured above).
Genting – the Malaysian company with a string of casinos and gaming clubs in the United Kingdom – got the go ahead from the Clark County Commissioners in early January
As Resorts World Las Vegas general counsel Gerald Gardner told Review Journal, the approval represented “a significant step in the project” since it enables the company to use the land for the purpose it intended.
With the parking garages already nearing completion, it’s expected that the Chinese-themed facility will be fully operational in 2018.
Starting out with a 1000-room hotel tower on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, Genting is planning three similar towers which will bring the number of rooms and suites to 4,000.
An indoor water park, a 4000-seat theatre, 30 eateries and a replica of the Great Wall of China (!) are also on the cards, together with a gaming floor covering a staggering 175,000 square feet.
Later still a 1,000,000 square foot convention centre will be added.
