Despite some of the most confusing gambling laws ever, the United States has plenty going on for gamblers. It is home to some of the most well known casinos in the world, located in the state of Nevada.

If the desert heat is not for you, there are other amazing land-based casinos in the USA to enjoy across the nation and we have put together a list of the best ones out there. Sadly, RightCasino didn’t have the budget to send the team on an all-expenses-paid road trip but we have it on good authority that these are the biggest, best and more popular casinos in the US. The Bellagio

Even if you have never set foot in America, you will have seen this casino. The 2001 casino heist film Ocean’s Eleven was set here and for good reason. This resort is absolutely massive, with a tower measuring 156m in height and boasting an incredible 3,015 rooms!

The Bellagio opened in 1998 and offers 116,000 square feet of gaming space. The resort also has plenty of other entertainment options available, including no fewer than 11 notable restaurants, an art gallery and a Cirque du Soleil show in permanent residence.

The Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa

Where? Atlantic City, New Jersey

Atlantic City has had something of a reputation problem in the past and was associated with seedy, grubby establishments that did not exactly entice the discerning gambler. The Borgata resort opened in 2003 and has shrugged that reputation off by offering top-notch services and entertainment.

There are 2,002 rooms available, making it the largest hotel in the state. It has 161,000 square feet of gaming space and it features poker tournaments in conjunction with the World Poker Tour. The Borgata also includes a spa with a variety of amenities and an events centre.

We’re back to Nevada with the Peppermill but when we’re after the top resorts, we couldn’t very well leave this one out. The Peppermill opened back in 1971, making it one of the older establishments on this list. It offers 107,272 square feet of gaming space and 1,621 guest rooms.

The resort boasts an amazing range of dining options, from casual to fine dining venues, as well as a health spa. It does not have any permanent shows in residence at the moment but the Peppermill’s bewildering range of dining options and its generous gaming space mean that even though it’s one of the older venues, this resort is still one of the best ones.

Beau Rivage Resort and Casino

Where? Biloxi, Mississippi

The Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, Mississippi

Back when the Beau Rivage was being built, in 1999, Mississippi’s nuanced gambling laws meant that any gambling activities had to take place aboard floating barges. These days, the resort is the biggest in the country outside of Nevada and its waterfront location on the Gulf Coast makes this an impressive destination.

The casino is comprised of 72,000 square feet of gaming space and the resort includes dining options ranging from a steakhouse to 24-hour casual dining. The Beau Rivage has won a number of industry awards for its excellent community service and business practices.

Eldorado Resort Casino

Where? Shreveport, Louisiana

The Eldorado Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana

If you’ve ever watched True Blood, you’ll be familiar with Shreveport. This town has more to offer than fictional vampires though. The Eldorado Resort is the biggest in the state, offering 28,917 square feet of gaming space. If you’re hungry, the Eldorado offers several dining options.

We head west for this entry, to Harrah’s Resort. This venue lies between the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean on one side and Palomar Mountain and a national forest on the other, while being in driving distance of San Diego and Palm Springs. Gamblers looking for a relaxed holiday in the sun will certainly appreciate this well positioned venue.

There are over 1,000 guest rooms to choose from and 86,000 square feet of gaming space. Harrah’s includes a range of dining options and a health spa, as well as a nearby golf club for those leisurely afternoons in between rounds of roulette.

L’Auberge Casino Resort

Where? Lake Charles, Louisiana

Located in the Gulf, the L’Auberge Casino opened in 2005. Because of Louisiana’s gambling laws, which only allow gambling aboard riverboat casinos, the venue is actually a floating structure built on the soft soil found on the banks of Lake Charles.

Floating or not, this venue draws an impressive number of visitors, with about 400,000 pouring through its doors every month. It offers 995 guest rooms and aside from the gambling options, visitors can enjoy its variety of restaurants and shops as well as an 18-hole golf course.

Pechanga Resort & Casino

Where? Temecula, California

The Pechanga Resort is one of the biggest in the state and is right up there with the big guns in Las Vegas and indeed around the world. With approximately 200,000 square feet dedicated to gambling space, which includes a 700-seat bingo venue, over 4,000 slot machines and more than 150 game tables, there is no way anyone could get board at Pechanga!

There’s also a food court, convention centre, cabaret lounge and a high-limit gaming area to explore and enjoy.
