Jacks or Better (Betsoft)
Jacks or Better is the most well-known version of video poker. The title refers to the fact that the minimum qualifying hand for win is a pair of jacks.
This game from Betsoft is realised in a traditional video poker style – i.e. the graphics are extremely basic. This is because when video poker was created, computer software was not sophisticated enough for anything else.
Payouts:
Jacks or Better | x1 |
Two Pair | x2 |
Three of a Kind | x3 |
Straight | x4 |
Flush | x6 |
Full House | x9 |
Four of a Kind | x20 |
Straight Flush | x30 |
Royal Flush | x250 |
You can choose from seven coin sizes from 0.02 to 5.00, and from one to five coins in play for each deal. The payouts for each winning hand are multiplied by the number of coins aside from the royal flush, which scores a bonus x4,000 if you are playing with five coins.
The game has three playing speeds you can set. Click on the ‘Choose coin’ button to set your bet, and the ‘Bet One’ button to choose how many coins to wager. You can click the ‘Max Bet’ button to go straight to five coins.
Press the ‘Deal’ button to receive your cards. Unlike some games, winning hands pre-draw are not held. To hold cards before drawing, click on the ‘Hold’ buttons or the cards themselves, then hit ‘Deal’. The game will automatically announce if you have a winning hand.
All wins can be gambled. If you choose to, the dealer receives one card, and you must choose from four cards to try and beat it. Note that often – when the dealer draws a high card – none of your four options will win.
The RTP of this game with best play is 98.25%.
Conclusion
You will not find a simpler version of video poker anywhere online. This is really stripped down to the basics in both play and design, but the game does what it is supposed to do. The RTP is decent, but the ‘double up’ game is a bit of a dud. You’ll find better versions of Jacks of Better elsewhere.
