Vikings Go Wild Slot
You may not have heard of Yggdrasil Gaming. You probably won't even be able to promounce their name. They are one of the smaller online casino software companies, and they have been running since 2013. They've released a few slots in their time, and have carved themselves a slight niche with slots that look a little … odd. There's really been nothing spectacular from them … until now, perhaps.
Vikings Go Wild is a 5-reel, 4-row, 25-pay line '3D' slot and is like nothing Yggdrasil (appropriately here, as Yggdrasil is the name of the 'tree of life' central to Norse mythology) have produced before. We're talking the high standards of established firms such as Betsoft and NetEnt. Vikings Go Wild even starts with a quite magnificient video intro where a viking warrior becomes very friendly with a giant octopus. Or it might be a krakken – it's a bit dark, to be honest.
The symbols used in this spectacular slot are all viking-related – mainly warriors so they are a lot of big beards about (mostly the women). There are also gold, silver, bronze and … er … green coins, and special symbols. There are 25 pay lines, and all of them are in play at all times. Your coin value can be anything from 0.01 to 2.00, and your final bet is your coin size multiplied by 25. When you're ready to unleash the viking hordes, hit the spin button.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts start at 5x your coin value for four bronze or green coins. The top prize is for the sexiest-looking warrior (he doesn't have the best beard though) at 250x your coin value.
Free spins are available via the 'Free Spin' symbol. You gain eight free spins for three symbols, sixteen for four and twenty-four for five.
The 'Wild' symbol substitutes for all other symbols aside from the 'Free Spin' symbol.
During free spins the octopus/krakken awakens and mayhem ensues. Each warrior symbol that appears must do battle with the krakken and if they survive, they turn into sticky wilds that remain in place for the duration of the freebies.
A treasure chest can also pop up at random, awarding coins and between eight and twelve free spins. During free spins it can also trigger the wild reel feature, in which an entire reel turns wild.
Make no mistake, this is the best game created by Yggdrasil so far, with great animations and graphics. The only thing it lacks is a bonus game, but that's a mere niggle and shouldn't take anything away from what is a truly wonderful slot.
