Titantic is a 5-reel, 25-pay line online slot from Bally Technologies. This slot is based on the 1997 blockbuster movie of the same name that was directed by James Cameron, and starred Leonardo DiCaprio (as Jack) and Kate Winslet (as Rose). The film told a slightly fictionised version of the events surrounding the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, a ship that set sail from Southampton in the UK on 10 April, 1912. The ship was carrying over two thousand passengers to New York City, but never made it. The Titanic hit an iceberg five days into the voyage and sank. Only around seven hundred people survived.
The symbols in this game are all associated with the movie, including the two main stars themselves and Billy Zane, who played Rose's not-all-that-nice fiance 'Cal' Hockley. The rest of the symbols are artifacts from the ship. You start the game by choosing which ticket you wish to buy – a 3rd class ticket for 0.01 per line; a 2nd class ticket for 0.02 to 0.04, or a 1st class ticket for 0.05 and above. The higher value ticket you buy, the more features you have available. There are twenty-five lines and they are all fixed, so your wager is your bet multiplied by twenty-five. When you're ready to set sail, hit the spin button.
Payout & bonus rounds
The lowest payout in the game is for three identical chests (not Kate Winslet's) symbols, which will win you five times your line bet. The jackpot in normal play is for five of the circular titanic logo, which wins you 500x your line bet.
The game has a number of bonus features. The more you pay per spin, the more features are activated.
There are a number of wilds. The 'Wild', 'Double Wild', 'JackRose Wild', 'JackRose Double WIld', 'Ship Wild' and 'Ship Double Wild'. One or more 'Wild' symbol in a winning combination on an active pay line is wild, and substitutes for all symbols aside from the additional wild symbols.
The jackpot scatter pays when two or more 'JackRose', 'JackRose Wild' or 'Jackrose Double Wild' apper in any position on the reels. Five jackpot scatters win 500x your total stake (first class ticket only), while four pay 100x your stake, three 10x and two 2x.
Upon each spin the Mystery Double Wilds feature may be activated at random. If so, two to five double wilds will be randomly awarded on all reels aside from the first. They are held in place until all wins are evaluated. The double wild subs for all symbols aside from the 'JackRose', 'Ship', 'Jackrose Double Wild' and 'Ship Double Wild' symbols.
The Mystery Wild feature may also be awarded at random. If so, two wild reels will be randomly awarded. There are more details about this feature in the game's info section.
In the Jack's Drawing Mystery Feature you get to select symbols from a grid of ten. When you select three identical symbols, you win the corresponding cash prize.
You may also be awarded the Mystery Jackpots feature – here you pick one of three tiles to reveal a bonus, the 'Mini Jackpot' or the 'Maxi Jackpot'. The jackpots can be anything from 50x to 400x your line bet.
The wheel feature is triggered if you land three scattered 'Ship', 'Ship Wild' or 'Ship Double Wild' symbols on reels one, three and five. You either win cash or one of four bonus games:
- Make it Count: Free games with more symbols. You can land locked wilds and bonus free spins while you are playing.
- The Heart of the Ocean: Win free games with additional, lucrative symbols added to the reels. You can choose between six and thirty free games with different multipliers.
- The Safe: choose from ten safes to win a bonus award between 150x and 800x your line bet.
- Pick Up: choose symbols to be awarded payouts and multipliers.
As you may have gathered, Titanic the slot has as many features than the original RMS Titanic had lifeboats. We really cannot do justice to them here, so make sure you read the game's information screens. This game certainly has a terrific standard of gaming, but the symbols and animation used just does not match up. Still, it's not a slots game that's likely to leave you with a sinking feeling!
