Reel Attraction is a 5-reel, fixed 20 pay line online slot from Novomatic, via their Greentube business unit. This is a scientific slot, dominated by a mad-looking (as in unhinged) professor whom seems to love his magnets and their attractive powers just a little bit too much. To help keep him grounded he has a beautiful red-head whose lab coat seems to be bereft of a few buttons around the chest area, and whom handles a smoking test tube in a very suggestive manner.
This slot is all about the power of magnetism – there's a special 'Professor Wild' on reel one and should you land him AND another 'Magnet WIld' on any of the other reels, then three things happen:
- The 'Professor Wild' expands to fill the entire first reel
- The professor uses his magnet to attract any reels containing a 'Magnet Wild' over towards the first reel
- The reels are re-evaluted for any fresh wins
Along with the two wild symbols and the professor's assistant symbol there's a microscope, an atom, a magnifying glass, and playing card symbols ten through to ace.
There are twenty lines in this slot and that number is fixed – you cannot choose to turn selected pay lines on or off. You can choose your bet-per-line, though – anything from 0.01 to 50.00. Your final wager is always your bet-per-line multipied by twenty, as you have twenty lines in play. When you're ready to get magnetised, hit the spin button.
Payout & bonus rounds
The lowest available win in Reel Attraction is for three identical playing cards symbols. Landing three from the left-hand reel onwards on an active pay line will win you five coins. The top prize-giver in this game is for five of the professor's assistant – that will win you one thousand coins.
As mentioned above, both the 'Professor Wild' and 'Magnet Wild' symbols are wild in this slot. They both substitute for any symbol aside from the scatter symbol.
Speaking of the scatter symbol, the symbol to look out for is a glowing golden flask. You only need to land three of these symbols anywhere on the reels to win a payout plus twenty free games. What's more, during those free games as soon as the 'Professor Wild' symbol becomes expanded on reel one it converts to a 'sticky wild' and remains in place for the remainder of your free games.
Despite there being a slight lack of features, this is not a bad slot at all. The animations are all excellent, although the habitual Novomatic jingle that plays every time you spin and the cash register noises when you land a pay out will quickly get on your nerves. The 'attracted' reels feature is something we've not come across before, so kudos to Novomatic for attempting something new, and something new that works!
