Pyramid: Quest for Immortality Slot
Pyramid: Quest for immortality is an Egyptian-themed online slots game from NetEnt. It's another in NetEnt's series of 'oddly-shaped' slots as the reels and rows combination is arranged in a 3-4-5-4-3 formation. All row combinations that are possible are in play at all times in this game, which means there are a staggering possible 720 pay lines available! To land a win all you need to do is land identical symbols in adjacent columns from the left hand reel – on which row the symbol lands does not actually matter.
All the symbols are Egyptian themed, except for the ubiquitous playing card symbols ten to ace. On the reels you'll find pharaoh masks, golden scarab beetles and other golden treasures. You can select your coin size from 0.01 to 2.00, and your bet level from one to ten. Because all 720 pay lines are in play at all times, your final wager is ten times your coin size multiplied by your bet level.
In a 'Gonzo's Quest' stylee, all the symbols fall, rather than rotate, into place. With each 'spin' the board clears and nineteen new symbols fall into place. Whenever you do land a win, the winning symbols vanish, the rest of the board tumbles down and new symbols fall into place to replace them, possibly triggering more wins.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts commence at your bet-per-line for three tens, jack or queens, up to x50 for five Tutankhamun-style pharaoh masks. Sadly, immortality is not on offer as one of the jackpot prizes.
An 'ankh' covered with the world 'WILD' acts as the wild symbol in this game, and substitutes for all other symbols. Any symbol that lands on top of any of the three central reels and forms part of a winning combination becomes a wild symbol for the next avalanche.
Every time you score a win, the avalanche meter to the right of the reels advances one stage. Once you have secured three avalanche wins on the same spin you are awarded a 2x multiplier. This multiplier advances one further stage with each three connected avalanche wins until it reaches a maximum of 10x. As soon as your avalanches stop, the meter resets back to zero.
Despite the 3-4-5-4-3 formation and the 720 possible pay lines, this is quite a surprisingly tame effort by NetEnt. It really does suffer from a lack of bonus features, and only genuinely gets exciting once you are on an 'avalanche run' and the avalanche wins really do start to stack up. However, the multiplier only advances with every three avalanche wins, which makes it very hard to get into the upper reaches of the avalanche meter.
There are several slots for which NetEnt may be thought of as 'immortals' when it comes to the realm of online slots, but it does not seem that 'Pyramid: Quest for Immortality' is likely to be one of them.
