Monster Wins Slot
What's that coming over the hill? Is it a new 5-reel, 1,024 fixed pay line slot from NextGen Gaming? You can beat your sweet *** it is! Don't worry though, the monsters used in this slot seem more on the cute 'n' cuddly side, rather than creatures likely to bite your head off then suck on the stump! Most of them are brightly coloured, and have less (or more) than the requisite number of eyes, which would make them useless at tennis and anything else that requires eye-hand co-ordination.
This slot has four rows rather than the habitual three, and the maximum possible number of pay lines is 1,024. This is one of those 'all ways pays' slots. It doesn't actually mean you have more chance of winning (although the RTP of this game is nice and high at 97.12%) but it makes playing the game simper as it's easier to tell when you've landed a winning combination.
Setting your wager size in this game is monstrously painless – just select the size of your coin from 0.01 to 2.00. You pay 50x for the privilege of playing a slot with so many pay lines, but that's still a very good deal. When you're ready to see if you can secure a monster win, hit the 'spin' button then go and hide behind the settee!
Payout & bonus rounds
There are five monsters in this game that are the stingiest. These are a series of multi-coloured blobs with one eye, and they win you five times your coin size if you land three of them in a winning combination. The monster prize-giver is the 'bonus' symbol – land five bonus symbols on an active pay line to win 2,500 lovely coins.
The wild symbol here is simply the word 'WILD' – it only appears on the final four reels and substitutes for all the other symbols aside from the scatter symbol.
The scatter symbol is the bonus symbol as mentioned above. If you land three or more scatters anywhere on the reels you are awarded three 'Boss Monster' free games. The boss monster is a weird purple thing that has five eyes. During free spins stacks of him appear on reel one, and if you fill the first reel completely with boss monster symbols, then the boss kicks other monsters off the reels to replace him with himself. This can trigger some real monster wins.
This 'Unleash the Boss Monster' feature also works during normal spins, but during free spins the boss monster symbol is held in all four positions on the first reel.
All wins can be gambled. You can guess the colour of a concealed card to double your win, or the suit to quadruple it. Guess wrong, and you lose your winnings. You can gamble up to five times in a row.
So, have NextGen Gaming got a monster hit on their hands? Well, perhaps not, but this is still a nicely entertaining game, and comes with a funky soundtrack that you're never likely to tire of. There's nothing fearsome about these beasts thankfully, and there's certainly nothing fearsome about your chances of a nice cash payout!
