House of Fun Slot
House of Fun is a 5-reel, max 30-pay line '3D' video slot from Betsoft. It was one of the first video slots Betsoft developed and helped them set the bar incredibly high for other slots developers. 'House of Fun' is hardly accurate here, as the action takes place outside a very odd-looking stately home that seems full of individuals creepier than the ghost of Michael Jackson. Two teenagers named Paul and Jane and their dog watch proceedings from the right-hand side of the reel, and in true horror movie tradition they simply hide or hug each other when a spooky situation arises, instead of doing what any sane person would do – call a taxi on their mobile, speed away at maximum thrust and then go and play something nice and fluffy like Kitty Glitter instead. All the symbols in this great game are superbly animated though, and if you watch the dog on his 'slight body movements' loop it can get quite hypnotic.
You can select your coin value (0.05-1.00), your credit level (1-5) and the number of lines you want in play (1-30). Once you're happy, hit the spin button. To win, line up identical symbols in sequence on an active payline from the left hand reel.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts begin with two of a blue-eyed pussy at 25x your stake-per-line, up to 750x for two of the House of Fun's creepiest-looking individuals.
While you're playing, watch out for the evil Jack-in-the-box symbol. Three of them anywhere on the reels will cause Jack to spring from his box and scare the bejesus out of Paul and Jane – but then he will award you five free spins with the central reel completely wild to make up for it.
If you land three of a purple-suited freak on lines 1, 2 or 3 then you enter the 'click me' feature. You click on the symbols to gain cash prizes – and you keep clicking until 'Collect' is revealed.
Watch out for the door knocker symbol – three or more of these on an active pay line will trigger the 'Escape Bonus Round' – poor Paul and Jane are dragged into the 'House of Fun' and you must help them choose which of five doors to escape from. Pick right and cash will come your way… pick wrong and the poor pair end up with a fate worse than an invite to the UKIP annual party conference.
House of Fun looks wonderful but you can tell that Betsoft have gone on to bigger and better things since 2010 as the game is rather limited and soon becomes repetitive. It's still worth a few ghostly spins, and you should be in with more than a 'ghost' of a chance of landing some spook-tacular wins.
