The Go Bananas! slot is a 5-reel, 25-pay line online slot from NetEnt. It's another one of the unique, cartoon-like slots games that have become NetEnt's trademark. The game begins with a video – a slow pan across an awe-inspiring jungle landscape … which ends with some big ape monkeying around, throwing a banana at the camera which then smashes. Things do not get any more respectful as you play the real game.

The symbols in the game are all items from the monkey jungle, including fruit, coconuts, bongos, a money clip and a banana sundae. You choose your coin value from 0.01 to 1.00, and your bet level from 1 to 10. Your total stake is your coin value x level x 20 (as all 20 lines are in play at all times). To win more than a banana, you need to land at least three identical symbols in sequence from the left hand reel on a pay line.

Payout & bonus rounds

Payouts start at x3 for three of any of the five fruits (although they have to be the same fruit), to x700 for five pink gemstones.

There are five wild symbols in the game, and landing one of them anywhere on the reels triggers the appropriate feature:

Gorilla: turns five symbols wild in an 'X' pattern.

Orangutan: turns fours symbols wild in a 2×2 square.

Baboon: turns the entire reel it lands on wild.

Langur: turns three symbols wild in a horizontal pattern.

Tarsier: turns two symbols wild either horizontally or vertically.

Go Bananas has wonderful graphics, but the game-play is a little bit of a disappointment. The 'Monkey Wilds' is the only additional feature – no free spins, no scatters and no bonus games. Once you've seen all five animations that accompany the appearance of each character, there's really nothing else to see. It's a shame really, as with most of NetEnt's most recent slots games, the animation is wonderful, but in all honesty, this is a game that not one many slots fans are likely to 'go ape' over.
