Gladiator Slot by Playtech

Gladiator slot is a 5-reel, 25 max pay line online slots game from Playtech. The theme of the game is based upon the Ridley Scott movie of the same name, which starred Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius, the wronged Roman general seeking vengeance for the murder of his wife and son. The game features graphics, sound FX and clips from the movie.
The symbols used in the game are playing card values nine to ace, and icons featuring other stars from the hit movie, including Oliver Reed and Derek Jacobi. You can choose your own wagering level from 0.01 to 100.00 per line, and as many of the 25 possible pay lines as you want in play. To win, you need to land three identical symbols on an active pay line from the left-hand reel, or two in the case of Joaquin Phoenix as the devious emperor Commodus, or Connie Nielsen as his sister Lucilla, whom Commodus seems to have an incestuous eye upon.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts range from x1 for two Coliseum symbols to the jackpot amount of x5,000 for five Commodus symbols.
The Coliseum symbol acts as the scatter, and two or more anywhere on the reels is a winner. The Gladiator Helmet icon appears on the middle three reels and acts as the wild symbol. It substitutes for all other symbols aside from the scatter.
Landing three or more wild symbols triggers the Gladiator Bonus. In this bonus game the player chooses from nine different helmets behind which are hidden cash prizes.
Three or more scatter symbols triggers the Coliseum Bonus. In this bonus game, the player works their way up from a row of stones revealing as they go prizes such as free games, free spins with multipliers, and extra scatter symbols. Once the player has completed the bonus game, they move on to play any free games they won during the Coliseum Bonus game, complete with the prize multipliers or extra scatter symbols they’ve managed to acquire. The Coliseum bonus cannot be re-triggered during bonus spins, but landing a Commodus symbol anywhere on the central reel during the free spins triggers an additional three free games.
All wins can be gambled up to a maximum of 100.00 by playing a ‘red or black’ double up game. Despite the movie tie-in, this slot is beginning to show its age, and online slots players have more demanding tastes for variety than they did five years ago. It’s definitely worth a few spins, but don’t expect the Gladiator slot to entertain you for as long as the Roman Empire lasted!
