Funky Fruits Slot
Funky Fruits is an all-ways-pay, 5-reel, 5-row online slot from Playtech. The stars of this slot are the fruits who made their first appearance in 2013's release 'Funky Fruits Farm'. Obviously, it's been harvesting time down at the farm as the fruits have escaped and now have a slot all of their very own. This slot also has a progressive jackpot, the details of which are as follows:
- Seeds at: £100,000.
- Biggest win: £1,264,528
- Average win: £1,705,085
- Average time: 94 days.
At the time of writing, the jackpot has been won six times since this slot was released in 2014. On all but one occasion, the lucky winner became an instant millionaire. The jackpot so far has been won around every three months.
There are six fruits involved in this game – cherries, lemons, oranges, pineapples, plums and melons. They are arranged in a 5×5 grid, and when you hit the 'play' button they tumble down onto the grid, rather than roll around the reels. You win payouts for groups of fruit, rather than straight lines. A 'group' is where the same fruit symbols are touching each other – above or to the side, never diagonally. You have to land a group of at least five to win a payout.
When you obtain a good grouping, they are liquidised and fresh fruits fall down to take their place. This gives the possibility of triggering fresh wins. You can choose one of four coin sizes – 1, 2, 5 or 10. You only win the full jackpot if you gamble with 10 – you receive a percentage if you gamble with less. When you are ready to get a little fruity, hit the 'play button'.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts in normal play begin at 0.4x your coin size for five melons, and rise to 5,000x for sixteen or more lemons.
There are no wild symbols, scatter symbols or bonus games.
The fruit to look out for are the cherries. If you can land a group of a least eight cherries, then you've won that fruitilicious progressive jackpot.
That's about it for Funky Fruits. How you feel about this game depends on how you feel about 'cascade' games as opposed to traditional slots. It would have been nice if a few extras like wilds and scatters had been added to this game to up the entertainment content a little, but they're absent. The silly sounds made by the fruits soon become annoying too, although thankfully you can 'mute the fruit'. A 'slot' for fruit salad addicts only perhaps, but a game that makes a new millionaire every three months or so is surely worth a few playing sessions?
