Darts Heroes is a 5-reel, 243-pay line 'all ways pay' slot from Stakelogic that has been released via Novomatic. This slot has done something that no slot has done before (at least, that's what we think) – it has taken four of the world's greatest darts players, turned them into super heroes and created an online slots game out of them. Why has no one thought of this before?

Each dart player has been blessed with their own super-ability and their extra-special talents should help you win major moolah in this – interesting – slots game. Joining Phil, Michael, Raymond and Gary on the reels are a super hero battery (?), a dartboard, a scoreboard with '180' etched upon it and the Unicorn logo – Unicorn being one of the major manufacturers of darts equipment world-wide. Playing card symbols ten through to ace also make an appearance.
The whole thing kicks off with an amusing video that shows our darting heroes transform into their super alter-egos. All possible pay lines are active in this game, meaning a total of 243 ways to win. Each spin costs forty coins, and you can select the size of your coin – anything from 0.01 to 1.00. When you're ready to see if you can hit the bullseye, hit the spin button.
Payout & bonus rounds
The lowest winning score in this game is for three identical playing card symbols. Landing three the same will earn you five coins. The jackpot prize is won by landing five identical darts legends on one of the pay lines. Doing this will win you two hundred and fifty coins.
Each of the super-heroic players in this slot has their own wild and bonus symbol. When you land three matching identical bonus symbols on reels one, three and five you are awarded twenty free spins. Free spins take place on altered reels where only the dart player who triggered the free spins is featured. Further wild symbols are added to the reels during free spins, and even more are added when wilds land during the bonus round. Free spins can be re-triggered.
At any time one of the landing darts players symbols can transform into a wild symbol. When this happens, further wilds are added to the game, as follows:
- Phil 'The Power' Taylor – distributes wilds randomly among the reels
- Michael 'Mighty Mike' van Gerwen – turns into a 2×2 wild symbol
- Raymond 'Barney' van Barneveld – turns the entire reel upon which he lands wild

Despite this game's rather odd premise (or rather, perhaps, because of it) this online slot is a lot of fun. Once you've watched – opened mouthed – at the start-up video in which four middle-aged men transform into super heroes, you can get on with the serious business of winning some cash. The graphics and sound FX are excellent, and the gameplay is entertaining enough to keep you playing. We only score slots out of one hundred so sadly can't award this game one hundred and eighty, but a high score is definitely on the cards!
