Charms & Clover Slot
Charms & Clovers is a 6-reel, 40-pay line online slot from Betsoft that was released in early July, 2016. This slot fills a chasm-like gap in the market – an Irish-themed online slots game! We can't think why no one has come up with this concept before, as – aside from around two dozen – we don't know of any other slots with an Irish-based theme.
This is another release by Betsoft using their 'Slots3' software. This not only guarantees a slot of the highest quality in both audio and visual aspects, it also makes sure that the game plays perfectly well on smart phones and tablets. All the symbols in this game are as you'd expect – mugs of ale, lucky horseshoes, pots of gold, four-leaf clovers and a rainbow. Playing card symbols jack through to ace also make an appearance. Additionally, there are three progressive jackpots – 'Mini', 'Giant' and 'Colossal'.
Your companion as you spin is a chubby leprechaun who celebrates your successes with you, and throws gold coins at you should you win big. You can select your coin size for each spin, from 0.02 to 1.00, and your bet-per-line from one to five. There are forty pay lines and that's a fixed number, so your final bet is your coin size multiplied by your bet-per-line multiplied by forty. Payout & bonus rounds
The lowest avialable winning pay out in this game is for three jacks or queens on a winning pay line. This will win you five times your line bet. The top jackpot (aside from the progressive jackpots) is for six leprechauns, which wins you 5,000x your bet-per-line.
This game features a sixth reel upon which are special feature symbols, piled four symbols high. If you manage to fill all four rows of the sixth reel with the same special feature symbol, then you win through to the special feature in question, as follows:
- Money Wheel: Spin the money wheel for extra bonuses – 4x, 5x, 15x and a chance to go on to spin the 'Super Wheel' which contains prizes of 20x, 40x, the Mini Jackpot and a spin on the 'Mega Wheel'. The 'Mega Wheel' contains 100x, the Giant Jackpot and the Colossal Jackpot. Note that you can only win a jackpot when betting at the maximum level.
- Mega Symbol: You are awarded eight free spins in which large (3×3) leprechaun symbols are added to the reels.
- Golden Bonus: Choose one of the five pots of gold to receive a bonus of up to 20x your total bet.
- Pots of Gold: You are awarded eight free spins. After each spin, three new wild symbols are added to the reels.
In addition to all this bonus fun, there's a wild symbol that substitutes for all symbols except for the sixth reel bonus symbols.
You can go 'double or quits' on all wins. Just flip a coin and guess heads or tails. Get it right and your prize is doubled, get it wrong and your prize dwindles to zero.
This is a familiar-looking game with some excellent features, however, it might be said that as Betsoft's Slots3 slots have been around since 2011, it's time for them to be a little more innovatve. Sure, their slots look and sound great, but the familiarity is starting to breed a little contempt, and more boundaries require pushing. We loved their last release – 'Birds!' – but this one just seems a bit lacking.
