Bejeweled 2 Slot
Bejeweled 2 is a 5-reel max 20-pay line online slot from Cryptologic. If you've never heard of 'Bejeweled', then you've probably never played any kind of game on the Internet before. It was a browser-based game created by PopCap Games in 2001, and the original version plus subsequent sequels have been downloaded over 150 million times. It introduced a simple yet addictive concept that has since been aped by many other games: You had to switch jewels as quickly as possible to create three-in-a-row combinations. The more you created, the higher your score.
A slot version of Bejeweled was inevitable and Cryptologic released their version in 2005, with near-identical gameplay. This follow-up, released in 2011, is much more your traditional online slots game, and has now comletely replaced the original Bejeweled slot at online casinos.
The symbols used in this slot are – of course – mainly jewels, along with 'gem-ified' playing card symbols nine through to ace. You can choose your coin size from 0.01 to 25.00, and all twenty lines are selectable. Your wager is your coin size multiplied by the number of lines you have in play. When you're ready to be bejeweled, hit the 'spin' button.
Payout & bonus rounds
Payouts begin at 5x for three nines or tens. The jackpot is a bedazzling 10,000x for five wild symbols.
The wild symbol here is a swirling, colourful circle. It substitutes for all other symbols aside from the three bonus symbols (see below) and all wins containing a wild symbol are doubled.
The three available bonus symbols are all scatters. You need to land three or more anywhere on the reels to be awarded the bonus feature:
- Bejeweled 2 Bonus: The screen changes to a traditional 10×10 'Bejeweled 2' grid and each three-in-a-row combination wins you cash. Winning combinations vanish to allow other symbols to take their place. The game continues until no more cascade wins are forthcoming.
- Bejeweled 2 Free Spins: You are sent to the 'Free Spins' screen where you stop a spinning wheel to select a free spins multiplier. The number of free spins you are awarded depends upon the number of free spins symbols you landed.
- Wheel of Riches Bonus: Another bonus wheel containing a range of different multipliers all the way up to 500x. You win the value of your line bet multiplied by the multiplier.
Bejeweled is of course an internet gaming classic, but is this version an online slots game classic? Maybe not, but it does have some superb features and the classic Bejeweled look.
