Batman & Catwoman Cash Slot
Batman & Catwoman Cash Slot is a 5-reel, fixed 25-pay line online slot by Playtech. It's one of a number of releases issued by Playtech concerning DC Comic's Batman. In each slot Batman takes on a different iconic 'super villain', and all Batman-themed slots are linked by four completely winnable progressive jackpots.
The Batman in this game is not the modern Michael Keaton/George Clooney/Val Kilmer/Christian Bale/Ben Affleck 'gritty' era, or even 2017's Lego Batman, but the 'camp' 1960s Batman memorably portrayed by Adam West. This TV show ran for three seasons and one hundred and twenty episodes between 1966 and 1968, and was one of the first shows that really dazzled in the relatively new medium of colour TV. The show became famous for Batman's stunning array of serendipitous solutions for all situations, including the time (in the 1966 film spin-off) where he thwarted an attack from a shark as he happened to be carrying a can of shark repellent.
The Catwoman of this slot is the classic version played by Julie Newmar, although in the TV series Catwoman was also played by Eartha Kitt, and in the movie by Lee Merriwether.
This slot has all the campy style of the TV show, but misses the classic da-na-nana-nana-nana theme tune. Batman and Catwoman are joined on the reels by Robin (Dick Grayson, played by Burt Ward), plus items from Batman's equipment shed and other items loaned to the slot by Catwoman. There are twenty-five lines in this slot, and that's a fixed number. You can select your coin size from 0.01 all the way up to 100.00, and your bet-per-spin is always your coin size multiplied by twenty-five. When you're ready to get bat-spinning, hit the bat-spin button.
Payout & bonus rounds
The lowest winning payout in this game is for three bat-a-rangs or three bat-belts, winning you five coins. The top jackpot (aside from the progressive jackpots) is for five Batman wilds – this wins you two and a half thousand coins.
The Batman wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols in this game.
The 'Bonus!' scatter symbol landing on reels one and three triggers the 'Cat Burglar Bonus' feature. Pick one of the scatters to reveal a cash prize or a win multiplier for use when/if you attain free spins. Increasing your mutliplier also sees diamond symbols replacing scatters on the reels. Diamond symbols award you a cash prize whenever they land.
If you land scatters on reels one, three and five then you trigger 'Batman vs Catwoman' free games. You receive a number of free spins with Catwoman super stacks. All wins during free spins are multiplied by your free games multiplier. Once free games are completed, extra scatter symbols are added to the reels.
The 'DC Super Heroes Jackpot' feature may be triggered at any time, but the higher your bet, the greater the chance of it being triggered. You select from a hexagonal grid of twenty shapes, and each shape reveals a colour. You need five reds to win the biggest jackpot, but only two greens to win the mini one. You keep choosing squares until one of the jackpots is won.
So, is 'Batman and Catwoman Cash' a bat-tastic slot? Well, aside from the amazing progressive jackpots, it's a bit bat-average. It's nice to see the original (and as some would claim, the best) Batman remembered in this way, but this slot is a little bit 'old-fashioned' (and not in a good, 'retro' way). A good effort by Playtech, but just like Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, it could have been a lot better.
