Blackjack (Playtech)

The gambling giants Playtech offer a number of blackjack variations, of which this is the simplest.
This version has several nice aspects, the first being that the table has five positions at which you can play, and the second is that the table felt and card backs can be branded with the name of the casino at which you are currently playing. You can even cycle through a range of colour felts if that takes your fancy.
Chip values come in denominations from 0.1 to 100 of your chosen currency. To play a bet you simply click on your chip value then on the position(s) you wish to play. By using multiple clicks and chip selection you can bet as much as you want up to 100.
Once you're happy click on 'deal' and the cards are dealt. The cards are very nicely animated, flipping quickly into position. In this version blackjack pays 3:2 and insurance 2:1. Insurance is only offered when the dealer's face card is an ace. The dealer must draw to 16 and stand on all 17s, both hard and soft.
Standard 'Las Vegas Strip' rules are in use aside from a few exceptions. Pairs can be split but not re-split, and only a single card is drawn if you split aces. You can double down on any hand, including split hands. Dealers never check for blackjack and you cannot surrender any total.
Six decks are in use, and the house edge is a tiny 0.43 percent. The controls are very easy to use, appearing as a series of buttons towards the bottom of the screen. All events are announced by a pleasant female voice, which you can turn off if you find it too annoying.
Conclusion
For basic blackjack, this is an extremely pleasantly rendered version of the game. The ability to double down on all totals is a real bonus, and contributes to that tiny house edge, if you play with perfect strategy.
This is one game from Playtech that blackjack aficionados are not likely to tire of too quickly.
