Spin Casino in a nutshell
Spin Casino is a fresh-looking online casino created by the dudes at Betway. If you’re into your online wagering of any kind you must have heard of Betway. They came into being in 2006 and within a decade have become one of the largest companies in Europe. They run poker sites, sports betting sites and a number of online casinos including their own Betway betting portal, as well the Hippodrome online casino.
With a big company behind them, you’d expect a sizeable bonus from Spin Casino, and that’s exactly what’s available. You can earn yourself a whopper of a bonus of £1,000 over your first three deposits. That’s pretty darn generous.
When we received Betway Casino, we scored them a 79 out of 100. How with Spin Casino compare to its big daddy? You’d better keep on reading to find out …
What’s the look and feel of Spin Casino?
Spin Casino really is like taking a step back into the internet’s past. The software is even offered as a download. This is for Windows users only of course – Mac and Linux users will have to settle for the ‘Flash’ casino.
This design works well enough, but it’s light years behind the times when compared to hyper-modern casinos such as Casino Room and Kaboo Casino. An upgrade is definitely in order.
What games are available at Spin Casino?
You’re looking at a total of around 350 games online at Spin Casino. Just over two hundred of these are video slots, with another eighty or so being ‘classic slots’, which are basically 3-reel slots. All the software here is provided by Microgaming, which means you get a number of very good slots, and several poor ones. Among the ones we would recommend are Game of Thrones, Jurassic Park and Avalon.
When it comes to table games, blackjack leads the way with no less than twenty-eight different varieties. That’s a lot of way to hit, stand and surrender. Also in the table games section you will find seven versions of roulette, three versions of baccarat, seven versions of casino poker plus a version apiece of red dog, sic bo and craps.
Video poker fans will just have to settle for twenty-three versions, while you’ll also find arcade bingo, arcade keno and a couple of scratch cards.
The only thing that’s missing is a live casino.
All software here is provided by Microgaming.
Live support is available 24/7. We tried them out and found them to be satisfactory, but only just. They were a bit unfriendly to be honest.
There is a mobile version of Spin Casino for smart phones and tablets, but it only has a fraction of the games that the desktop site has.
What promotions are available at Spin Casino?
As we mentioned above, there’s £1,000 in bonus cash available at the Spin Casino. This bonus is spread over your first three deposits as follows:
- 1st deposit: 100% bonus up to £/$/€250
- 2nd deposit: 25% bonus up to £/$/€250
- 3rd deposit: 50% bonus up to £/$/€500
The T&Cs associated with this super generous bonus are only a click away from the bonus offer. They are very clearly explained, which is always a good thing to see. Some casinos have a habit of wrapping their bonus T&Cs in gobbledygook.
What’s not so good to see is that you must claim all three of your bonuses with seven days of signing up at the Spin Casino. The minimum amount of cash you need to deposit is £/$/€20 to claim any of the bonuses. The wagering requirements are pretty tight as well here – 50x the bonus amount. That is not too good, but at least it just applies to the bonus amount. If you earn a £/$/€50 bonus, then your wagering requirements will be £/$/€2,500.
Not all games are created equally. Here are the game contributions towards your wagering requirements:
- Slots and ‘parlor’ games – 100%
- Table poker, roulette, video poker (except All Aces or Jacks or Better), blackjack (except ‘Classic Blackjack’) and casino war – 8%
- ‘Classic Blackjack’, All Aces and Jacks or Better video poker, baccarat, craps, red dog and sic bo – 0%
Occasionally Spin Casino may offer a free spins bonus. If you are lucky enough to be awarded one any winnings are paid as casino bonus money, so are subject to the same T&Cs as outlined above. Free spins winnings max out at £/$/€100.
Spin Casino says it’s the place for bonuses – every week a new bonus offer will flop into your casino inbox.
The site has its own Loyalty Club. There are six tiers, from Blue to ‘Privé’ (French for ‘Private’). You earn five club points for every €10 you spend at the casino. As soon as you earn 5,000 points you can redeem them for €10 in bonus cash. You also rise through the tiers as you amass points – as soon as you make it to 5,000 points you reach the silver level, for example. Getting all the way to ‘Privé’ level takes some doing, and 2,500,000 points. The higher up the tier you climb, the bigger the benefits you receive.
You can use the following methods to deposit at Spin Casino:
- Visa, Visa Electron
- Paysafecard, Ukash
- Direct Bank Transfer
You cannot withdraw to Paysafecard/Ukash, MasterCard or Entropay though.
The minimum deposit is £/$/€10, and the maximum is £/$/€50,000. Exactly the same limits apply to withdrawals.
Transaction times are fairly typical – forty-eight hours or so for eWallets, and three to five days for plastic options.
The final verdict
There’s definitely a retro-feel to Spin Casino. When you load up the site, you get the feeling that Spin Casino has been around since the mid 1990s, so it’s a bit of a surprise to find it was only ripped out of its flat packs and screwed together in 2011. When you play here, you become nostaglic and expect at any moment to hear the sound of a 56k modem firing up.
The site works well enough and there are plenty of games available. It all just looks a little bit … naff.
