Hippozino Casino in a nutshell
Hippozino Casino is an online casino that’s operated by ProgressPlay Limited of Malta, and runs via licences issued by the Malta Gaming Authority and UK Gambling Commission. It’s one of ProgressPlay’s most popular online casinos – the others that they run include Dazzle Casino, Power Casino and Glimmer Casinos. All of ProgressPlay’s casinos seem to gain decent independent reviews from the people who play there.
There’s a definite ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ feel about Hippozino Casino. The banner on the site’s landing page invites you to “Join the Adventure”. The casino also labels itself “Casino Anywhere” which we assume refers to the site’s availability on a number of platforms. In reality, most online casinos these days are playable on mobile platforms, so this is not really something to brag about.
So, is Hippozino Casino a ‘hip’ place to play at, or somewhere that’s definitely not cool? Read on to find out what we found.
What’s the look and feel of Hippozino Casino?
Graphically, Hippozino Casino looks fine. Textually and organisation-wise it looks terrible. Games are in the wrong places, there are lots of spelling mistakes and then there’s that confusion about the deposit bonus. Also if you ‘snap’ the casino to half a window all the menu options and game options disappear. It’s almost as if the owners of this site didn’t care …
What games are available at Hippozino Casino?
Although the site seems to be primed for mobile, you can play most of the games available here on your desktop PC or laptop without a hitch (although we found that some games wouldn’t load, and some demanded that we downloaded Google Chrome to play them (we were using Firefox)).
The games here are divided into three sections – casino games, slot games and scratchcard games.
The slots games are of course the most numerous – we counted just over 200. Weirdly, although the headling on the slots games page reads ‘ALL SLOTGAMES (A-Z)’, the slots were most definitely not arranged in alphabetical order.
All casino games are lumped together with no organisation depending on the type of game. Again, there were promoted as in A-Z order but weren’t, and there were several dumb typos: “Black Jack Players Choi” and “Multi-hand Classic Blac”. The totals for games were blackjack (13), roulette (9), baccarat (2), video poker (3), casino poker (1) plus six shooter, sharp shooter and odd one in.
Under the scratch cards tab you’ll find another 34 games, although some of these (Crown and Anchor, Keno and Triangulation to name but three) are clearly not scratch cards.
There’s three live casino games: baccarat, blackjack and roulette.
Software is provided here by Microgaming and NetEnt.
The site works better on mobile devices than it does on the desktop.
Support is allegedly available between 6:00 and 23:00, but we could find no way of contacting the alleged ‘live support’ during these times.
What promotions are available at Hippozino Casino?
The welcome bonus at Hippozino Casino is rather on the small size – you deposit £20 in order to receive £50 to play with. That size bonus is usually associated with bingo sites, rather than online casinos. However, the smaller the bonus, the more favourable usually are the wagering conditions – is that the case here?
The answer is … no. The wagering conditions are fairly standard at 50x the deposit bonus amount (not the deposit and bonus). In certain jurisdictions the wagering conditions are upped to 100x – there are no details in the T&Cs exactly which jurisdictions these are – you have to email Hippozino Casino to find out! That’s not exactly playing fair as far as we are concerned.
Oddly, if you click through the ‘GC Promotions’ tab on the menu, you’re offered a completely different bonus altogether – a one hundred percent bonus up to £/$/€200, plus a £/$/€10 bonus free. It seems that you only get the free £/$/€10 if you add the maximum bonus of £/$/€200. The minimum amount you need to deposit is £/$/€10. We’re not sure why there seems to be two bonus offers.
Only five percent of all bets placed on video poker count towards wagering requirements, and only ten percent of all bets placed on baccarat, blackjack, roulette and casino poker count as well.
You do have a decent amount of time to meet your wagering requirements – ninety days.
One thing players not from the UK must note from the T&Cs: If you are NOT from the UK but you select GBP as your chosen currency, then you will not be eligible for the deposit bonus.
The bonus T&Cs at the site are quite comprehensive, so they are certainly worth a read if you claim a bonus here.
The site does offer other promos. When we reviewed the site the casino was celebrating St Patrick’s Day (or ‘St. Paddy’s month’ as they put it) with three possible deposit bonuses. You could either claim ten free spins, thirty free spins with a ten percent bonus or fifty free spins with a twenty percent bonus, depending upon how much cash you were willing to put in.
Hippozino Casino seems to run a different promotion every day of the week, including weekends.
There’s a VIP scheme too that’s run over five different levels. You earn one VIP point for every £/$/€16 that you wager at the casino. You can convert these points back into cash, and the rate at which you can do so depends upon how far up the VIP scheme you have risen. There are other benefits too, such as VIP-only customer support, birthday presents and personalised gifts.
There are several ways of funding your Hippozino Casino account, including PayByPhone which allows you to deposit between £10 and £30 per day (no withdrawals though). The site also accepts Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Dinners Club, Discover, Skrill, Neteller, iDeal and Paysafecard (now including Ukash). All deposits are transacted instantly, and the minimum deposit is £/$/€10.
You can withdraw via Visa, Skrill, Neteller or iDeal, or via a bank transfer. You are limited to a withdrawal total of £/$/€1,500 per week or £/$/€3,000 per month. There’s a pending period of 72 hours, after which withdrawals take 24 hours for eWallets, 4-7 days for credit cards or 4-10 days for bank transfers.
The final verdict
We’re sure that Hippozino Casino was a decent place to play once (player testimonials confirm that) but now it seems that the site has simply been left to stagnate. It wouldn’t take two minutes to review and tidy up typos and games that are in the wrong section, plus we’re not one hundred percent sure that the promised ‘live support’ is actually available. It’s almost as if the owners didn’t care.
You’ll definitely be guaranteed an adventure if you sign up at Hippozino Casino, but in all likelihood it’s not one we can be confident that you’ll enjoy!
