The social betting operator Bodugi.com has had its gambling licence revoked by the UK Gambling Commission, CalvinAyre.com reports. A two month investigation found Bodugi in continuing breach of its licencing conditions. The brand was allegedly uncooperative with investigators, who were addressing allegations of refused pay-outs. Originally citing customer complaints regarding an inability to withdraw funds, the Gambling Commission subsequently found Boudigi “unresponsive” and suspended their license. A Sussex gambler who conned private investors out of an estimated £1.3 million has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail. Using a technique known as a "Ponzi" scheme, 39-year-old Nicholas Peter Ford swindled investors, including a friend with a disabled child, out of fortunes. A Ponzi scheme involves taking money from investors to be part of a spread betting syndicate but then paying them back with the money given to him by other investors as opposed to any profit made.
